For this reason, since the day we heard about it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking [specifically] that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [with insight into His purposes], and in understanding [of spiritual things], so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts]; [we pray that you may be] strengthened and invigorated with all power, according to His glorious might, to attain every kind of endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints (God’s people) in the Light. For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption [because of His sacrifice, resulting in] the forgiveness of our sins [and the cancellation of sins’ penalty]. Col. 1:9-14 [AMP]
One thing you need above everything else in other to live a successful Christian life is wisdom from above. The scripture points out that the Lord Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God. When you have Jesus in you, you also have wisdom inside you – “But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God [revealing His plan of salvation], and righteousness [making us acceptable to God], and sanctification [making us holy and setting us apart for God], and redemption [providing our ransom from the penalty for sin]” (1 Cor. 1:30). Why then is it that you sometimes take decisions that produce the wrong results? Why is it also that you sometimes act in ways that prove ultimately to be unwise?
Ideally, having Jesus in your life should make you the wisest you ever can be. But it so happens that many that carry Jesus in them do not even know what they carry. They think, talk and act as the numerous ordinary folks on the street. Whenever you discover that your choices and actions are no longer as wise as they ought to be, do what is recommended in James 1: 5- “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.”
It will amaze you how many things you do not have simply because you have not taken time to ask. The same James said; “… you do not have because you do not ask.” You will do well to pray constantly the same prayer Apostle Paul prayed in Eph. 1:17: I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. Don’t go through life without the wisdom of God. Ask God to give you wisdom today to fulfil Kingdom purposes and to be a solution here on earth. When you ask God for wisdom, the spirit of wisdom is activated but the Spirit of God does not work in a void, tomorrow and next we will look at how the Spirit of God works out His wisdom in and through us.
Father fill me with your Holy Spirit, and with the Spirit of Counsel and Might, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding and the Fear of God that I will be a true ambassador and representative of the Trinity here on earth.
