KEY SCRIPTURE: DEUT. 8:17-18
Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’ But you shall remember [with profound respect] the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore you(solemnly promised) to your fathers, as it is this day. Deut. 8:17-18 [AMP]
God’s desire for us is that we prosper in every sphere of our lives including finance. Our prosperity will not be complete if our finances are not affected positively that is why Jesus bore the curse of poverty on our behalf that we might be made rich. For you are recognizing the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [His astonishing kindness, His generosity, His gracious favor], that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (abundantly blessed). 2 Cor. 8:9 [AMP].
As a believer, increasing your financial capacity is not an option, it is a mandate. There is nothing as bad as running on another person’s track excellently to the finish line only to find out that you failed because you were on the wrong track or that you have been struggling in life because you have been in the wrong business or profession. Discover God’s plan for your life so you can work in it and prosper. Jer. 29:11.
If you learn to be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and practice the discipline of obedience when He leads you, He can tell you where and when to invest. Most times our minds are too busy and noisy to know when He leads and hear what He says. *If they hear and serve Him, they will end their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness and joy. Job. 36.11[AMP]
However, diligence is a virtue that cannot be overestimated in the process of developing economic capacity. Apostle Paul enjoins us in 2 Thess. 3:10 [AMP]- For even while we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
Your ability to increase financially is dependent on your dedication to kingdom advancement and your stewardship. Luke 16:11; Matthew 6: 19-21, the man who multiplied the talents received more. It takes more than spiritual capacity to multiply your talent. You need to develop economic capacity. Grow your financial intelligence by making out time to read articles, listen to financial news etc. You must have basic knowledge when it comes to finances irrespective of your profession.
Thank you dear Jesus for teaching me these principles today. Lord grant me the wisdom to learn how to harness and grow the treasures given to me and translate them to economic resources by adding value to others.
