Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
– Ephesians 1:15-23
Christians lose many battles, not because the devil is powerful, but because they do not know their authority and their inheritance in Christ. The battles Christians lose to the devil are always in the areas where such Christians lack knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
In the beginning, God created man in His image and likeness and gave him dominion over all other things in creation. That dominion was lost when man sinned and the dominion God gave to him was taken over by the devil. Sin opened the way for sickness, poverty, and hell. But Jesus came and with His own blood, paid the penalty for man’s sin, restoring him to the original position of authority and dominion.
The regenerated man has this assurance from Jesus, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).
E. W. Kenyon said, “There is no sickness problem. There is simply a problem of the believer’s coming to know his inheritance in Christ.”
What you must do is to pray the prayer in Ephesians 1:18-19 until you catch a better revelation of who you are in Christ. “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power”
- Pray that Christians will hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow Him; not that of a stranger.
- Pray for a fresh understanding among Christians of their inheritance in Christ.
CONFESSION: The more I know you, the more I want to know you. Open my eyes, Lord, to know you more.
