Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
– 2 Corinthians 4:1-10
After you received Christ and began to enjoy the liberty, grace, and love of Christ in the new life, you may have wondered why you did not surrender to the Lord much earlier than you did.
In our passage today, the force that holds people in darkness is exposed. “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
The god of this world – Satan – blinds the mind of those that do not believe the gospel. Their minds are blinded so that they cannot see the glorious light of the gospel of Christ. This is the reason you can never win anybody to Christ through sound and logical arguments. The key for breaking the power of darkness over the unsaved is offered in 2 Cor. 4:5-6, “We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord… For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
In the same way that God called light to appear and dislodge the darkness that engulfed the earth at creation, call light to shine in the hearts of those ones whose mind have been blinded by the devil. Pray this prayer for the people you go to witness to. Once you break the power of darkness over them, the glorious light of Christ will shine in their hearts as you minister to them.
- Pray for the quick spread of the light of the gospel to dislodge the darkness that blind people in your State.
- Pray that Christians will step out and harvest souls.
CONFESSION: Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. When we usher in this Light, the darkness disappears.
