CONTEND FOR THE FAITH WITH THE ARMOUR OF GOD

The Sacred Responsibility of contending for and defending our Common Faith is one that can never be overemphasized. As a follow-up to our previous devotional, we, as True Christian believers, have a Divine Duty as the Army of God to adopt a defensive stance against the devices of the devil. (Eph.6:11-13) The reason for this is obvious to those who possess Spiritual eyes and ears: There's a constant raging battle between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness involving the destinies of men. During this battle, satan would try everything within his power to sabotage our Christian Faith and our Commitment to preserving as well as spreading it. This is why we can never afford to be complacent anymore. (Amos 6:1)

One of the most effective ways to defend and contend for our Faith always is by constantly wearing the Whole Armour of God, which is almost purely defensive. (Eph.6:10-18) The following are the specific items the Lord God Almighty Himself has made available to us for that Sole Purpose:

(1.)THE BELT OF TRUTH: This speaks about the Revelation of God's Word within our hearts. (Jn.17:17) Taking a stand on God's Word always keeps the enemy at bay.

(2.)THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: This part of the Armour of God protects us from the devil's accusations (Isa.59:17) and insulates us from condemnation.

(3.)THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE: These are represented as Shoes through which we are protected by satan's assault during our regular Missions (Isa.52:7) and the fulfilling of our Ministry.

(4.)THE SHIELD OF FAITH: This is what gives us a guarantee of our Victory (1Jn.5:4) because Faith failure is equivalent to heart failure.

(5.)THE HELMET OF SALVATION: This is what grants us Access to eternal security (1 Thess. 5:8) and Peace in the eye of the storm.

(6.)THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT: This refers to Rhema or the Spoken Word of God, which is quickened in our hearts from the Holy Scriptures.(Matt.4:4) The Word of God which proceeds from our mouths has the Divine Capacity to destroy satanic systems and structures.

(7.)PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT: This is what energizes us, edifies us, and dismantles matters too complex for our mortal understanding. (Jude 20)
